privacy policy
We attach great importance to data protection. The collection and processing of your personal data is carried out in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We collect and process your personal data in order to be able to offer you this website and other services in connection with it. This privacy policy describes how and for what purposes your data is collected and used, how and where it is stored and what options you have in connection with your personal data.
I. Scope
This privacy policy applies to the ESIL Conference 2025 website (https://www.esil2025.de). In this regard, we refer to the dedicated privacy policy on that platform (https://www.conftool.net/esil2025/privacy.php)

III. Data collection
When you visit the ESIL Conference 2025 website, we only collect and process personal data to provide a functional and secure website, to the extent you have consented to and to the extent you have consciously provided us with personal data, e.g. to respond to an enquiry. In general terms, the data collected is meta and communication data, usage data and personal data that is communicated to us directly, for example via e-mail.

log files
The provider of this website automatically collects and stores information your browser automatically transmits to us in so-called log files. This concerns in particular information on the browser and operating system you are using, your IP address, the URL from which you came onto the website, the pages you visited and the date and time stamp of your visit.
We use this data to ensure the functionality of the website, in particular to detect and eliminate website errors, to analyse the utilization of the website, and to make adjustments or improvements. This data is collected on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website - the server log files must be recorded for this purpose.

individual enquiries
If you contact us by e-mail or telephone your enquiry including all personal data will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of processing your request. We will not pass on this data without your consent. This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR if your enquiry is related to the fulfilment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of the enquiries addressed to us (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR) if this has been requested; consent can be revoked at any time.
The data you send to us via contact requests will remain with us until you ask us to delete it, revoke your consent to storage or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions - in particular statutory retention periods - remain unaffected.

cookies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device either temporarily for the duration of a session (session cookies) or permanently (permanent cookies). Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Permanent cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them yourself or they are automatically deleted by your web browser. Cookies have various functions. Many cookies are technically necessary, as certain website functions would not work without them (e.g. language selection on multilingual websites or the display of videos). Other cookies are used to evaluate user behaviour. An overview of the cookies used by our service provider WIX (wix.com) on this website, their respective purpose and storage duration, can be found here: https://support.wix.com/de/article/cookies-und-deine-website-bei-wix
Cookies that are required to carry out the communication process, to provide certain functions that you have requested (e.g. language selection) or to optimise the website (necessary cookies) are stored on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the storage of necessary cookies for the technically error-free and optimised provision of its services. If consent to the storage of cookies and comparable recognition technologies has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of this consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG); the consent can be revoked at any time.
III. Analytics and third-party service providers
We host our website with Wix.com Ltd, 40 Namal Tel Aviv St., Tel Aviv 6350671, Israel (hereinafter ‘WIX’). WIX is a tool for creating and hosting websites. When you visit our website, WIX is used to analyse user behaviour, visitor sources, the region of website visitors and visitor numbers. WIX also stores cookies on your browser that are required to display the website and to ensure security (necessary cookies). For details, please refer to the WIX privacy policy: https://de.wix.com/about/privacy.
The use of WIX is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. We have a legitimate interest in displaying our website as reliably as possible. If a corresponding consent has been requested, the processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR and § 25 para. 1 TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information in the user's terminal device (e.g. device fingerprinting). Consent can be revoked at any time.
We have concluded a data processing agreement within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR with WIX, that is a contract in which WIX commits itself to process data only upon our instructions, legal obligations and official requests and in conformity with the GDPR. In the contract, WIX further undertakes to ensure confidentiality, take technical and organisational measures to ensure security of processing and to only engage the sub-processors specified in the agreement who themselves provided sufficient guarantees that their processing of user data respects the GDPR. The data collected by WIX may be stored on various servers worldwide. The WIX servers are located in the USA, among other places. According to WIX, where an adequacy decision within the meaning of Art. 45 GDPR has not been taken, data transfer to third countries is based on the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission or comparable guarantees in accordance with Art. 46 GDPR. The full data processing agreement can be found here: https://de.wix.com/about/privacy-dpa-users.
